Aeris Gainsborough

Story Line: Aerith, or Aeris, whatever. She's the flower girl who is part of an Ancient race called the Cetra. It is believed that these people will lead the planet to the Promised Land, and capturing Aerith is high on Shinra's priority list. After saving her from Hojo, she joins your party to help you fend off Shinra and try to defeat Sephiroth. But, when in the lost City of Anceints, she is kneeling, innocently praying to help save the planet, when the all-powerful Sephiroth drops down from..somewhere..and stabs her in the back. Then out falls her Holy materia, something only she posseses. Well...no more Aerith. However, she does complete her task at the end of the game when Holy pulls through and covers the planet. Short lived character, but her memory lived on throughout the game. Story Line Score: 8

Overall Battle Performance: Final Fantasy VII's battle system contains magic which can be learned through the use of Materia. Materia is concentrated Mako energy, and can control the elements, abilities for the character, different battle changes, and summon monsters. All characters can be equal in magical powers, you just have to battle to have them learn the magics. The real differences between the characters in battle are their weapons and limit break techs (the more the character gets hurt, the more angry they get, when they get really mad, they get a limit break.) Aerith was able to use staves and rods, not unlike any other white mage from previous Final Fantasy games. And like those other games in which white mages used staves and rods, they did little damage. Aerith's strong points came when she got her limit breaks, since all but one of them healed or helped your party in some way. If you train with her before she dies and also go through the steps to learn her final limit break, you'll not only be better off, but you'll be stronger, wealthier, and be able to use one of the best limit breaks in the game (it completely heals and makes your party invincible.) I strongly recommend doing so. Overall Battle Performance Score: 9

Overall Contribution: Aerith provided the 3rd person for the always present love triangle. She also provided a good reason for the TURKs to go after the members of AVALANCHE. And of course, she provided a flower that Cloud could give to Tifa. But most importantly, she summoned the spell that in the end of the game, saved the entire planet from being destroyed, and thanks to her, life once again was able to grow. Can't really contribute more than that. Overall Contribution Score: 10

My Opinion: I disliked Aerith. I don't know why..oh wait, yes I do. She was too innocent and untainted. There was absolutly nothing evil about her at all, and that was sad. So, I was none too sad when she died. In fact, I was happy to see Sephiroth. And you know what? YOU CAN'T BRING HER BACK TO LIFE (without Game Genie.) However...she was ten million times cooler than Barret, so props to that. My Opinion Score: 6
