Barret Wallace

Story Line: Barret...I called him Big Mike..don't ask why, it's a long story. Anyway, this guy was the leader of the AVALANCHE terrorist anti-ShinRa group. Barret's big story line had to deal with his "daughter" Marlene. Turns out Barret was born in Corel, a small mining town outside of the Gold Saucer. Well, one day, ShinRa decided that it wanted to build a Mako reactor there, which was opposed to by everyone but Barret. The reactor ended up being built, and an explosion occured, destroying the little town. Barret and his best friend, Dyne, went to take revenge on the ShinRa troops, but Dyne ended up falling off a cliff and Barret got his hand shot off. So Barret had to take care of Dyne's little girl, and was banished from Corel. Where to? Midgar, of course. And so went the course of Barret's life..until one day he met up with Dyne again. They had a little fight, and in the end, Dyne jumped off a cliff. It was sad, but Barret moved on, with a new purpose in life. He then saved his hometown from a speeding train, and all was forgiven. Story Line Score: 7

Overall Battle Performance: Final Fantasy VII's battle system contains magic which can be learned through the use of Materia. Materia is concentrated Mako energy, and can control the elements, abilities for the character, different battle changes, and summon monsters. All characters can be equal in magical powers, you just have to battle to have them learn the magics. The real differences between the characters in battle are their weapons and limit break techs (the more the character gets hurt, the more angry they get, when they get really mad, they get a limit break.) Barret has his cool gun arm, to which he can attach things such as guns and cannons. Good thing to give an insane Mr. T look-alike, right? Barret is so-so in battle, he can do some pretty good damage depending on which weapon he's using. Some of his limit breaks were good, and some were bad, it just all depended. I would actually use Aerith instead of him because of her limit breaks. But it's really just a matter of taste. Overall Battle Performance Score: 7

Overall Contribution: Barret made a great contribution to the sub story line that appears in every Final Fantasy game. He could've been a little better in battle, but he did always have a "kind" word or two to say to everyone. Overall Contribution Score: 6

My Opinion: Now, I didn't really like Barret; when Cid and Vincent came along, there was just no need for him anymore. There was really nothing about him that made him stick out a lot from any of the other characters, so I never used him. He's good to make fun of. I think it's funny how the Japanese made him look like Mr. T..it's great how they see our culture. My Opinion Score: 3
