Zidane Tribal - Virtue - "You don't need a reason to help people."

Story Line: A seventeen-year-old theif who belongs to a theater group known as Tantalus, Zidane is the main character of FFIX. In the beginning of the game, Zidane and company capture Princess Garnet of Alexandria, and bring her to Lindblum (eventually.) Zidane is very fond of women, trying to pick up just about every girl you talk to in the game. He has a kind heart, however, and his character really thickens as the game goes on. Why does he have a tail? Towards the end of the game he finds out why - he's not from Gaia at all, but from Terra, a planet that is in search of new energy. Zidane is actually a Genome, created specially to take over Gaia in order for Terra to consume it and survive, just like his brother, Kuja. But Kuja was jealous of Zidane, and took him from Terra, leaving him on Gaia to grow up alone. Zidane defies his father of sorts, Garland, and decides to stay with his friends and defend not only his planet but the universe from being destroyed. Along the way, he falls in love with the princess-turn-queen Garnet, makes many new friends, teaches others that helping people out is not a chore, and manages to learn the truth about himself. Story Line Score: 10

Overall Battle Performance: The battle system in FFIX is much more traditional Final Fantasy in that each character gets the option to attack, do a special skill, or use an item. The main difference is that every character can use magic. Different skills, called abilities, are learned from weapons, armor, and accessories. Abilities can then be equipped to a character, giving a wide range of choice for each battle. Magic is learned in the same way, but doesn't need to be equipped. FFIX has the Trance mode, in which a character turns a glowing white, and aquires special hidden powers during this time. Zidane, being the main character, has the best weapons, like in all other FF games (though in this game, it's much more even with the weapons, at least, say, if you compare Stiener and Zidane.) His best weapon is of course the Ultima Weapon, which has an attack power of 100. You have to go through a lot to get it though, and you don't need it to beat the game, but sometimes people always have to have the best weapons. Zidane is a theif, and so gets the steal command, which can be enhanced by the abilities "Mug" and "Bandit", and also with the thief glove, which we know from FFVII, is awesome. Zidane has strange magic that he learns from his weapons, and I really wouldn't recommend using them, because his attacks are usually more powerful. When he trances, his skills are replaced by Dyne, which are -very- powerful! It's always the best when Zidane trances, because his Dyne skills do so much damage, and you can use about three of them per trance! In the end you have the option of taking Zidane out of your party, but what's the point? Keep him in, you won't regret it. Overall Battle Performance Score: 10

Overall Contribution: Zidane was an excellent main character. At first he didn't seem to have too much depth too him, he just had nothing better to do than to help a pretty girl out. But he really added a lot to the game, especially when he found out that he was actually a Genome, and Kuja's brother! Who expected that? No one. And the ending! Well, I shouldn't really talk about it I suppose..ah, I don't care! Okay, I admit that I was really stupid at the end. I knew they couldn't have killed him, but I didn't think he was guy under the robe until he started talking by himself. I know, I know, I'm stupid. But that's how great the ending was! I'm so glad he went back for Kuja, simply because you were able to see how much depth Kuja's character had. He wasn't just a bad guy, he didn't understand himself until the last minute, and that was sad. If I ruined the ending for anyone..well..mwaha. Overall Contribution Score: 10

My Opinion: I really liked Zidane. He was cool, he was a theif, he had awesome weapons, he had a tail..what more could you want in a main character? I got mad at him when Dagger had to leave to be queen and he didn't say anything to her, but that's the only time. Overall, he was a great contribution to the game, and well planned. My Opinion Score: 10
